Shrimp/Prawn Malai Curry

1 lb. shrimp/prawns (peeled and washed)
2 medium sized finely sliced onions
1 cup coconut milk
2 Tbs. oil
1 Tbs. ghee
2 Tbs. plain yogurt
1/4 tsp. turmeric
1/4 tsp. chili powder
3/4 tsp. salt (to taste)
11/2 tsp. sugar
1 Tbs. ginger paste
3-4 cinnamon sticks
3-4 whole cloves
3-4 whole cardamom
3-4 bay leaves (medium size)

Cooking method:
Heat oil and ghee in a wok. Add bay leaves, cinnamon, cardamom and cloves. Add onions and fry until light brown. Add shrimp/prawns and stir 3-4 minutes. Add turmeric and chili powder, sugar, salt and ginger paste. Stir over a low flame for about 5-7 minutes or until medium brown. Pour coconut milk in slowly and stir for 4-5 minutes until the gravy thickens. Serve with rice.
